Acoteias Holiday

Acoteias is a picturesque little village with a tranquil feel and touches of traditional Portugal dotted throughout its centre. Situated a short distance inland, away from the hustle and bustle of the main beach resorts, Acoteias enjoys the best of both worlds; it has retained its traditional air and charm whilst still being close enough to enjoy all of the benefits of the nearby, more developed areas, such as Albufeira and Sao Joao which are 6km away.

The majority of Acoteias's tourist accommodation is to be found slightly away from the village, towards the coast. Basking in the sun is the resort's excellent beach, Praia de Falesia. Lounge around on the beach and sift fine sand through your fingers as you listen to the gentle lapping of waves on shore. A handful of excellent Portuguese restaurants pepper this most delightful of resorts while nearby Albufeira and Sao Joao offer even more in the way of bars, shops and restaurants.

Beaches

Nestled against reddish-coloured sandstone cliffs, Acoteias's flawless beach, Praia de Falesia, boasts golden sands that are kissed by the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. The beach is well maintained and has been awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanliness and clear waters, making it ideal for bathing.

Shopping

There isn't a lot to spend your money on in Acoteias. The several shops that you will find sell essentials, some souvenirs and limited food. Albufeira isn't far and offers more opportunity to use your euros.

Nightlife

In keeping with the tranquil character of the resort, nightlife in Acoteias is very low-key with most evenings spent savouring a meal in one of the resort's authentic Portuguese restaurants or sipping a glass of wine in one of the local bars.

Local Specialities

The extensive menus, high-quality ingredients and superior culinary skills outweigh the fact that there are only a few restaurants to choose from in Acoteias. International dishes can be had but Portuguese cuisine is the definite forté. If 'soupas' - chunky broth infused with flavoursome herbs and spices, or 'bacalhau' - a casserole baked with fresh cod, sound tempting, you'll enjoy eating out in Acoteias.
