Vilamoura Holiday
Vilamoura has it all: excellent sports facilities, a long sandy beach, dining, shopping - and certain sophistication, too. It's a modern, planned resort 22km west of Faro. Focused on a 615-berth marina, the whole area is maintained to the highest standards by the local residents. There are two main beaches - Marina beach and Falesia. Both have lovely golden sands but the latter has better facilities including snack bars, sunbeds and umbrellas. The Marina has plenty of shops including some fashionable clothes boutiques. There are copious opportunities for souvenir and handicraft shopping. The nightlife is lively, cosmopolitan and varied, with bars, cafes, clubs and restaurants.
Set an afternoon aside for an interesting stroll around the marina. There are plenty of international cafés for refreshment and people-watching. North west of Vilamoura are protected wooded areas - also great for an interesting stroll - although you'll find yourself watching wildlife rather than yachtsmen! This could be the destination for you if plentiful activities, a good beach and lively evenings amount to a great holiday.
Beaches
