Cavtat Holiday

Cavtat is a small village nestled around a flower-lined harbour and two palm-fringed bays with the blue waves of the Adriatic lapping at its shores. Densely wooded hills smile down on this pretty place and admire its gentle pace of life. People and boat watching from one of the pavement cafés, exploring the cobbled streets of the medieval Old Town and indulging in some sun worship are the general order of events here. Cavtat's beauty has inspired some of Croatia's most renowned artists, including the sculptor Ivan Mestrovic and painter Vlaho Bukovac. We think you'll understand why as soon as you arrive in this sun drenched pocket of natural and manmade beauty. Regular bus and boat services operate from Cavtat to Dubrovnik.

Beaches

The rock and pebble beaches slope gently towards the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic and are protected by two headlands, making the calm waters ideal for families. The southern side of the bay boasts excellent water sports facilities and a marked off water polo venue, popular with competitive locals and vocal spectators. The area is good for snorkeling, with bright corals and playful fish life waiting to be discovered.

Shopping

Shopping opportunities in Cavtat are limited, although there are several supermarkets, a delightful fruit market and a bakery selling fresh, crusty loaves and other treats.

Nightlife

Evenings in Cavtat are a low-key affair with entertainment revolving around romantic walks along the stunning shoreline, delicious meals in cosy restaurants and a glass or two of your favourite drink in a quiet bar. The pace does heat up a little on Saturday nights as the locals celebrate the weekend with louder music and a little dancing.
