Makadi Bay Holiday
Nestled between desert dunes and turquoise seas, Makadi Bay is one of the most attractive destinations on the Red Sea coast. Renowned for its high quality hotels, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and fascinating underwater reefs, it's little wonder that Thomson's hotel partners, Sol Y Mar and Iberotel, chose to base hotels here. Set south of Hurghada, this relatively new beachside resort has been thoughfully set out like a self-contained village. Wide, pedestrianised streets connect the elegant hotel complexes, making it particularly popular with families. Life tends to revolve around the 'Souk Makadi', a colourful marketplace offering an array or restaurants, shops and bars, designed for pleasure, relaxation and entertainment. Like most of the Red Sea resorts, Makadi Bay has plenty to do in the way of watersports. Whether you want to go diving, snorkelling or head out on a glass-bottomed boat, there's lots to keep you busy and help you to relax.
Beaches
The beach and the diving opportunities are the main reason people come to this resort - and it is well worth it as some of the best diving in the Red Sea to be done off the Makadi Bay coast. There are also various watersports for those who prefer to spend their time on top of the water!
Shopping
While there are lots shops in Makadi Bay, for a really comprehensive day of retail therapy, take a trip to Hurghada for a day of souvenir and bargain hunting, and test out your haggling skills while you're there for a whole new shopping experience.
Nightlife
The evenings are tranquil with entertainment (Italian & German speaking) very much hotel focused, so sit back enjoy the view while sipping your favourite cocktail.
Local Specialities
Being a relatively new resort, dining is mainly hotel-based although there are a few restaurants in which to sample Egyptian or international cuisine.
