Sharm El Sheikh Holiday

Whether it's sunbathing, scuba diving or shopping, Sharm El Sheikh's got it all. This cosmopolitan resort rests at the most southerly tip of the Sinai Peninsula between the Sinai Desert and the glittering, crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea.

Not far from the resort, you can visit the Ras Mohammed National Park. It's made up of two contrasting examples of natural beauty - one on land and the other beneath the waves of the Red Sea. The park features immense sandstone mountains that spill down to stunning coral reefs.

Beaches

This en vogue destination is renowned the world over for its water sports. Snorkelling and scuba-diving are particularly popular - the Red Sea's warm, tranquil waters and coral reefs draw dive aficionados back year after year. Don't worry if you're a novice though as there are plenty of dive schools dotted along the coast if you want to take the plunge. Expect to see dolphins playing among the waves, great manta rays 'flying' through the water and a host of brightly coloured tropical fish as you uncover the magical underwater paradise of the Red Sea. Many hotels have purpose-built jetties out to the best snorkelling areas - in order to protect the coral reefs, so access to the sea maybe from the jetty only.

Shopping

Away from the turquoise waters, Sharm El Sheikh is also known for its luxurious hotels and excellent shopping facilities. Haggle with the locals as you barter for good value leather goods and Egyptian ornaments in the local bazaar. Away from the hustle and bustle of the markets, Sharm El Sheikh is home to a number of Western-style enclosed shopping malls and smart boutiques where you can shop to your heart's content.
