Lixouri Holiday
Lixouri is situated on the Lixouri peninsula, 35km from Argostoli. It moves at an easy pace and would suit families and couples looking for a relaxing break in a genuinely Greek town with a friendly atmosphere. The mountains here are scattered with monasteries and villages untouched by tourism.
Beaches
The red, fine sands of Lepeda Beach, perhaps the best in the resort area, are 2km away from Lixouri Centre. The beach is clean and shallow waters make it excellent for families. Those looking to explore the peninsula will find a number of attractive beaches, some offering a limited range of water sports in high season.
Shopping
There are a handful of local boutiques and shoe shops, but the more serious shopper should head to nearby Argostoli.
Nightlife
In high season, the two discos just outside of the town are a big hit with locals! While in Lixouri there are a handful of tavernas and bouzouki clubs providing a perfect setting for a relaxing evening.
Local Specialities
The tavernas and restaurants cater for all tastes; Greek and Italian are particularly recommended. While Luxouri itself is famous locally for it's ice cream, why not also sample some Thiniatiko - red wine, which is made in Thinia just to the north of the peninsula?
