Taormina Holiday

Taormina is Sicily's best-known resort, located high on Mount Tauro looking out over two grand sweeping bays. Towering over the town is the magnificent Mount Etna, Europe's largest live volcano. Taormina is an ancient, historic town, full of characteristic buildings and points of historical interest that blend pleasantly with contemporary comforts. The coastal area around Taormina Mare, is among the most beautiful and famous in the world. It is a bay made up of several picturesque beaches and rocky inlets which offer a good range of watersports and boat trips to nearby sea caves. The local mild climate allows visitors to attend the beaches almost all year round.

It's said that it was Taormina itself that first attracted tourists to Sicily - and with its natural beauty, outstanding coastal situation and quaint maze of side streets it's easy to see why. The town is at its liveliest during August when most Italians are on holiday and from June to September Taormina stages its annual Arts and Film Festival in the ancient ruins of the nearby Greek Theatre.
