Tragaki Holiday

Tragaki, ten kilometres north of Zakynthos Town, is where people come to find peace and quiet. It's a small village that is relatively untouched by tourism and would appeal to walkers, cyclists, swimmers and sunbathers. For tourist sights and shops, go to Zakynthos Town, easily reached by local bus.

Beaches

The village has its own small, sand-and-shingle beach plentifully equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. It is also close to the golden sands of Amboula beach.

Shopping

The only shopping on offer in Tragaki is a small mini-market, which is surprisingly well-stocked with a large variety of food produce, drinks, gifts and inflatables for the pool or sea. There is a bakery a short drive away which makes delicious croissants and fresh loaves, perfect for breakfast on your balcony.

Nightlife

Nightlife in Tragaki is confined to restaurants and hotels but for more choice, simply head into Tsilivi, which has plenty of tavernas and bars - some of them serve cocktails and are quite lively. There is a family-orientated atmosphere here, and it's not uncommon to see parents and their children competing over karaoke.

Local Specialities

There are several beachside tavernas that serve traditional Greek cuisine. There is also a wonderful, although slightly pricey, Italian restaurant where the pizzas are big and the pasta is full of flavour.
