What Is The Difference Between A Catered Chalet And A Hotel In Meribel?

Anywhere that you decide to go on holiday is going to have a lot of different accommodations that you can stay in. hostels are very popular for those that are constantly travelling and looking to meet new people whilst also keeping the costs down to a great minimum. On skiing holidays in Meribel hostels aren’t exactly the best option, as you are likely to have families and children with you and hostels are generally a bit more grown-up and for the young adult generation more than anything else. Hotels and chalets are the only really suitable accommodation that I can think of when it comes to a skiing holiday for a certain period of time.

When comparing chalets and hotels there are a few things to take into account, as the one conclusion and fact that people jump to every time when it comes to accommodation is always going to be the cost. Money obviously does matter a reasonable amount when you are on holiday and it generally dictates a lot of our spending, but I think that this particular situation is a little different. This is because of the fact that there are going to be families on a ski holiday together, and money shouldn’t be as much of an object on a great family event going to a location that is generally going to be more expensive anyway. You are putting yourself in a situation where not paying the little bit extra for a chalet is not really optimal, and so it is often more agreeable to try and go for the catered chalet and have a much better family experience and air around the whole situation. As much as you may think that accommodation isn’t the biggest deal in the world I would suggest that this is one of the more vital parts of your holiday.

This is because of the huge difference in catered chalets vs. hotels. Essentially hotels are not a great place to go for many reasons, but one of the biggest drivers for choosing a chalet over a hotel is simply that hotels are inferior in pretty much every way. Your rooms are usually small, the rooms have limited activities for you and the children and generally hotels can have poor customer service as well as food depending on where you go. There are some great hotels out there but the majority in Meribel are just by far outmatched by the catered chalets.

The catered chalets available (such as the Chalet Madeleine at www.alpsports.co.uk) are a lot nice and better than staying in a hotel. It is a family experience in a family environment, there is hot food throughout the day and most chalet owners are very friendly and will help you out with your ski hire and lift passes if you require it. It is essentially a much higher level of customer service and general services for a marginal cost.
