Yanchep National Park Tourist Attraction

Yanchep National Park, just forty five minutes north of Perth, is the ideal spot for day tours with family and friends. With both woodlands and wetlands, this is a bird watchers dream. In addition to bird watching this park also offers the visitor a chance to see the Western Grey Kangaroo, koalas, as well as the Black-glove Wallaby. The park is also set up with everything you need for a nice days picnic including bathrooms, grills, and picnic tables.

Taking a trips out to the park on Saturdays and Sundays you will have the chance to learn all about the culture of the Nyoongar people of Western Australia’s southwest.  The Nyoongar will put on demonstrations at the park, and educate visitors about their life styles, seasonal migrations, and also how they use the native plants and animals to support their life style This is a must see demonstration for anyone who is interested in learning more about the aboriginal people of Australia.

As if that wasn’t enough Yanchep also sports an elaborate cave system that most anyone can enjoy. Crystal Cave contains a beautiful assortment of stalactites, stalagmites and helictites, all of which can be seen with the help of a guided tour.  Tours are conducted numerous times a day, and should be arranged earlier in the day to avoid overcrowding. In addition to Crystal Cave the park also contains Cabaret Cave.  This stunning cave can be rented out for events, and is set up to accommodate 120-200 people, depending on the event.

Also available in Yanchep are adventure caving tours.  As opposed to the previously mentioned caves, on this tour you will be harnessed up, and provided a helmet and head lamp.  Your guide will then determine which of the four adventure caves you’ll be exploring based on your age (minimum eight years old), sense of adventure, as well as your physical well being. Once all harnessed up your guide will lead you through the underground world Yanchep.  They will point out all of the systems plant and animal life, as well as educate the visitors on how the cave were formed.  Fun, as well as educational, this would be a great event for a small group such as a birthday party or family outing.

In addition to everything else Yanchep has to offer there is also a nine hold public golf course on site. Payment for nine rounds of golf is around $6, and payment is based on the honor system. All fees are placed in an envelope, and dropped in the payment box. A the receipt is kept as proof of payment. Golf carts aren’t allowed on the greens, and all players are required to carry a golf bag, and a minimum of four clubs. Since most of the fairways are straight and narrow, if you’re prone to slicing, you’re not going to have a great game here. Also, since all kinds of animals, including snakes, call Yanchep home, any ball hit into the woods is best left there.
